Silently Honoring Bicyclists And Pedestrians Killed & Injured On Our Streets

Information on the Ride

DEFINITION: The Ride of Silence aims to raise awareness among motorists, cyclists, and the public about the legal rights of cyclists and pedestrians and the importance of sharing the road safely.

Join Bike/Walk Summerville for our 3rd Annual Ride of Silence — a slow, silent 4-mile ride through the Historic District of the Town of Summerville to honor those who have been killed or injured while walking or biking in our community.

This group ride is free, all-ages, and police-escorted, with a pace of about 10mph. We ride to raise awareness, push for safer streets, and stand in solidarity with communities across the globe who are part of the international Ride of Silence.

With your attendance, you are showing the Town of Summerville and Dorchester County that bicyclists and pedestrians are present and that there is a demand and a need for this infrastructure in the area!

We are excited to announce that we will be collecting donations made on our registration page will go directly to our new program: Light Up The Way

This is a dedicated fund for purchasing high-visibility/reflective vests and lights to give out to those in need in the community. We will partner with local churches, nonprofits, and local police officers to distribute these vests to those in need.

With this program, we hope that this program will provide relief to bicyclists and pedestrians today, while we advocate for the future.

Donations may also be used covering our event costs such as permitting, safety equipment, and our general fund.
